Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents represent a special kind of accident
situation because motorcycle riders often don't get the respect and right-of-way
they deserve. Because bikes are smaller than cars and trucks, drivers often
overlook motorcycles or fail to give them proper rights on the road. Injuries
are usually serious.
Motorcycle injuries are expensive because they tend to be more serious and have
much longer rehabilitation periods. According to comprehensive insurance
industry data, 23% of motorcycle claimants have multiple injuries, 18% suffer
head injuries with permanent disability and 10% of claimants have injuries to
the back or spine. Some of these result in permanent paraplegia or quadriplegia.
This means that over 50% of motorcycle claimants have the sort of
life-threatening injuries from which some may never recover.

Wrongful
Death
Although wrongful death claims are based on the same kind
of negligent conduct that is the basis of any personal injury claim, there are
certain requirements in the law which place these cases in a separate category.
Even though the death may have been caused by the negligent operation of a car,
medical malpractice, a defective product or another kind of negligent conduct,
wrongful death claims must be handled in a different manner than other personal
injury cases. The time within which such a claim must be brought is much shorter
than other cases, the measure of damages is different and the identity of the
persons who may be compensated is an issue which is not presented in other
personal injury cases.
Although money cannot compensate for the terrible pain of losing a loved one, it
can help the family cover costs and provide some degree of future security in
the absence of the deceased family member. It is for this reason that the
victim's family members, dependents or beneficiaries may be entitled to recover
financial compensation as a result of the defendant's negligence.
Wrongful death cases can be very difficult to prove and require timely research
and investigation. Because time is a very important factor, if you even have the
slightest indication that your loved one's death may have been caused by someone
else's negligence, you need immediate answers.

Employment
Law
When employees are subjected to Labor Code violations such as
failure to pay overtime, being mischaracterized by employers as “managers” to
avoid paying overtime, the failure of employers to provide required lunch and
rest breaks, not receiving timely payment of agreed upon wages, this is against
the law.
If your employer fires you, it isn't necessarily discrimination. The employer
must be discriminating on the basis of a "protected category" for the
discrimination to be illegal. There are several state and federal laws
prohibiting job discrimination.
If you believe you have been discriminated against by an employer or employment
agency whenapplying for a job or while on the job because of your race, color,
sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability, or believe that you have
been discriminated against because of opposing a prohibited practice or
participating in an equal employment opportunity matter, you may file a charge
of discrimination with the Fair Employment and Housing Authority and/or the EEOC.
We will assist you in this regard.
